Bahama Cruise

Bahamas

We just got back from the cruise today so I thought I'd share some of our vacation with you.  This was our first cruise and it really was a great time.  Carnival Cruise Line impressed us....  Donnie is already looking to see where to cruise next.  The staff was wonderful including our housekeeper who would call us by our first name anytime he saw us.

The trip was a five night cruise with two stops;  one in Free Port and one in Nassau.  The Bahamas really aren't anything special...unless you go to the beach.  The weather was COLD so in Free Port we went on a tour of the city and visited a garden.  And in Nassau we did our own self-guided tour.  I would have loved to go to the beach but it was REALLY COLD.  I felt bad for the people who already booked excursions to swim with the dolphins or to go scuba diving because there was no way I would have gotten in the water.

While on the cruise we enjoyed gambling, the food, different shows, and the ability to put up our feet and relax.  I was also able to have a beer (non-alcoholic) and a fruity drink (virgin) once the sun finally came out.

We also ate in the dining room most nights for dinner and I was impressed with their food.  They actually had a lot of options to choose from and the menu changed nightly.  I switched it up every night... and one night I even was able to convince Donnie to try a small piece of an alligator bite.

The first night that we ate dinner once we sat down at the table they asked the dining room to start swinging your napkins high above you to welcome the dining room staff.  Then they played "Thats Amore" and we got to swing our napkins again.  [What's super funny is that at our Wedding we played the song Thats Amore and my family and guests from New York were swinging their napkins high in the air but the Southerners at our wedding were staring at us in confusion and didn't understand what we were doing.]

The sun decided to show on the last day of the trip while we had a day at sea.  Although the sun was shining it was still pretty chilly unless you were in one section of the boat.  So I laid out (with sunscreen) and got burnt to a crisp.... but at least I was able to come back to shore with some color.

We didn't party late into the night (maybe we would have one night if Baby Woos wasn't tagging along)... but we aren't really night owls in the first place. When we did go to bed we were greeted with a fun towel creature when entering our room at night.

Now back to reality....
